Search the Knowledge BaseHow the Search WorksFirst, select the product you wish to search on. Key in any number of search keywords. By default, when you execute a search using multiple words, the index will return those entries where all words are present (AND criteria), followed by the entries where some of the words are present (OR criteria). The product search also includes generic install and connection error issues. Several other searches are supported as described below: Or SearchTo view any record containing one or more of the words or values in your search criteria, simply key the values in and press search. This is the default search method as described above. For example: Select the product category ProGen WebSmart, type in the search criteria redirect target. This will return all Knowledge Base articles containing the word redirect or the word target in the search index. And Search To view only records that contain each word or value in your search criteria type a "+" between each word. The results returned will be limited records containing every word in the search criteria however in no specific order. For example: redirect+target will return only records containing both redirect and target in the search index. Exact Search To search records containing a specific word or words in the exact order you type them in surround the search criteria in double quotation marks. For example: "redirect(target)" will return only those Knowledge Base articles containing the exact phrase "redirect(target)". Wild Card Search A generic search used to retrieve records beginning with a specified value you can enter the value followed immediately by an "*" asterisk. This will return records that match the portion of the value entered. For example: red* will return records that contain a value beginning with "red". This would include those Knowledge Base articles containing the word "redirect" as well as those containing any word starting with "red". Near Search Your search criteria can be further refined by specifying that you want to search for one word near another. The results of this search will show records containing both search words within 5 words of each other. For example: redirect near target will return Knowledge Base articles containing the words redirect and target only if the word redirect is found within 5 words of the occurrence of target. Combination Search A combination of the above is also possible. You can combine a wild card search with the "+" sign etc. For example: red*+targ* will return Knowledge Base articles that must contain two matching values beginning with "red" and the word "targ". This would include all records containing "red", "redirect", "redirect=(gohere)" and also containing a word beginning with "targ", "target" etc. |
