Question

What are the System i minimum requirements for installing ZEND CORE?

Answer

Below are the System i minimum requirements for installing ZEND CORE. Note that Zend Core has now been superseded by Zend Server (see task http://esdi.excelsystems.com/iseries400apps/kb_task.pgm?task=DISPLAY&TSK=8261 for details).

*NOTE: Keep in mind that you can run WebSmart PHP applications on other platforms and it is not required to install ZEND CORE on the iSeries if you do not intend to run PHP on the iSeries.

Zend Core can run on V5R3 or V5R4.  For up to date information right from ZEND click on the following links:

 
V5R3 - pre-requisite License Programs
Step 1:
Check for the Zend products prerequisite i5/OS V5R3 License programs – Please use the i5/OS command line:
  1. Run the command GO LICPGM -> 
  2. Select option->10. Display installed licensed programs 
  3. Check the list of installed license programs and make sure the i5/OS V5R3 license programs listed are installed:
    • 5722SS1 13 OS/400 - System Openness Includes
    • 5722SS1 30 Qshell
    • 5722SS1 33 Portable App Solutions Environment
    • 5722DG1 *BASE IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS
    • 5733SC1 *BASE IBM Portable Utilities for i5/OS
    • 5733SC1 1 OpenSSH, OpenSSL, zlib

Step 2:
Make sure your iSeries i5/OS, installed with the latest cumulative PTF level:

  1. Use the i5 command -> WRKPTFGRP use option 5=Display for the PTF Group information display.
  2. The latest we installed is CUMULATIVE PTF PACKAGE C6192540.
  3. Additional i5 commands - > DSPPTF
  4. View PTF menu - > GO CMDPTF
Step 3:
Current i5/OS PTFs, recommended for i5/OS V5R3M0 – V5R3M5.
Please make sure you have installed the latest PASE PTFs updates:
