How to upload save file object from BCD Tech Support to your iSeries

Setting up a utility

  1. Download FTP123 from our website or the following link: http://www.bcdsoftware.com/downloads/products/ftp123-64.exe
  2. Install FTP123 then launch it.

Uploading the file

  1. You will need to enter your IBM i's IP address, a valid username and password.
  2. Change the Transfer direction to "Upload to i Series".
  3. Click on the "..." next to the PC File Name field to specify the file you want to upload in either a ".SVF" or ".EXE" (self extracting zip) format.
  4. Click "Start" and FTP123 will upload the save file to the IBM i.

Extract the save object

Once uploaded, you can run the following command, replacing parameters the name of the file and library as needed.

RSTOBJ OBJ(FILENAME) SAVLIB(LIBNAME) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(SAVLIB/SAVFILE)

If you're not sure, just hit F4 to prompt the command instead; then press F10 to display additional options like the the name of the library where you want the file to be restored to instead of the same library it came from. It's the equivalent of adding the following parameter to the command.

RSTLIB(TARGET)
