How to add custom action contexts.

Product: ProGen Plus Type: How to

How to Create your Own Program Contexts:

  • Edit the shell source member for the particular program style: E.g.: STRSEU GN#FSRC GN#PGA for style A STRSEU GN#FSRC GN#PGB for style B, and so on. For ILE RPG, specify the file name GN#FLES.
  • Invent your own 5 character program context ID (the first character MUST be an ‘*’ [asterisk]).
  • Scan the source member to ensure this combination of characters does not exist already. See chapter 18 of the user guide- The Actions Editor 529
  • Insert a comment statement in the calculation specs at the point which you want to designate as the Program Context. Use the general format: >C*xxxx, where C goes in position 6, * in position 7, and the last four characters of the Program Context ID in positions 8-11.
  • From a command entry line, type in the command: ZWRKPGMCTX At the panel presented, add the Program Context ID, description and subroutine in which it is located. (The subroutine is not required, it is for reference purposes only).
  • Once the context is add, go into a program of that style and go to the actions editor. You should see your context in the list.
