The Newlook developer runtime window is too small, I can't see my full screen.

Product: Newlook Type: Frequently Asked Question

Issue : The Newlook developer runtime window is too small, I can't see my full screen.

Background :

The form size that you see in the Newlook Developer runtime window is fixed at a size that is approximate to our 'default view' size in earlier developer products.  The view size provided was a deliberate approach to make sure that what is designed within Newlook Developer scales up effectively when deployed i.e. avoiding the design of a screen that works at high resolutions but would cause overlapping fields on lower resolutions screens.

To view the graphical screen at the same size that you are deploying to you can launch your own smartframe from within Newlook Developer via the toolbar (you can configure the smartframe location via Tools | Options | Browser). Alternatively you can launch the standalone Smartclient to view your solution.

Future versions of Smartclient will be built on the Windows Presentation Framework (WPF) which will allow dynamic scaling of the Newlook Developer runtime window. If you are using version 10.6, you can try the Beta Runtime Client now.

To enable the Beta Runtime client, from within Newlook Developer you can select View | Enable beta runtime client.

Once you have done this, you will notice a toggle button next to the Run (Play) button which you can toggle between the Beta Runtime and the standard runtime client. Utilizing the WPF Runtime client you will be able to scale your runtime area.

More information on Beta Runtime is available on our online Help:
