Information about validation of IBM i profiles with the WebSmart ILE vfyusr function on systems with V7R3.

Product: WebSmart ILE Type: Troubleshooting

For the longest time the VFYUSR function in WebSmart ILE required that the user id and password both be Upper case.  Just recently we've discovered this is no longer valid as of V7R3.

Testing using system password levels of both 2 and 3,  the passwords are case sensitive with our VFYUSR function.

So this may no longer work for you:
rtncode = vfyusr(upper(UserID), upper(password));

Instead, you will have to do this:
rtncode = vfyusr(upper(UserID), password);

A return code of "0" is successful,  "1" is a fail.
