When I attempt to generate a ProGen Plus definition, I'm getting errors related to the key fields for my files. I can't seem to fix this in the definition directly, is there another way to get at them?

Product: ProGen Plus Type: Frequently Asked Question

In some circumstances the key fields for your primary or auxiliary files can become corrupted in ProGen's internal files, and it's not always possible to fix these issues in the definition.

In these situations it's often possible to make the required changes to the underlying files directly.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Exit your definition.
  2. At a command line run the command ZWRKPDFINT.
  3. Read and digest the warning that indicates that any and all changes you make via this interface will void your warranty :-).
  4. Press Enter to advance to the first menu, and select option 1 - Program Definition Maintenance.
  5. Find your definition in the list and select option 9 to work with it.
  6. In the list of internal files presented select option 2 to work with GN#FKDF (File Key Definitions).
  7. Review what you see and look for errors. If there are duplicate keys for a file you can delete them here.
  8. If in doubt you can delete *all* the keys for a particular file, and then ProGen will rewrite those records when you go back into the definition.
