Why am I getting errors when WebSmart tries to download the compile listing?

Product: WebSmart ILE Type: Frequently Asked Question

When your WebSmart compile listing fails to download to your PC, check the EXODUS55/EXWORK job on the WRKACTJOB panel.  Do an option 5, then 10 for the joblog and go to the bottom.  You may find the the message:

Object not copied. Object is /qsys.lib/qtemp.lib/pw_splf.lib/pwsplf.mbr

And you may see a CPFA097.

This usually indicates that the user signed into WebSmart doesn't have the required authority to the ESDI folder on the IFS.  The user needs to have read and write authority.   You can check the authorities using System Navigator or you can do a WRKLNK '/esdi'  and an option 9 - from here you can add or alter the authorities as well.  Though, you may have to sign on with a higher authority to make that change.

Prior to the download WebSmart runs the CPYTOSTRMF command to copy the compile listing and joblog to text files so you can view them in the IDE.  This is what is failing.
